Trauma Sensitive Yoga
A gentle path towards healing mind and body after trauma
Learn to Trust Yourself Again
About My Training
I am a certified Trauma Sensitive Yoga facilitator, trained through the Center for Trauma and Embodiment at the Trauma Center (TCTSY). This internationally recognized program is grounded in research and developed specifically for trauma recovery. My training allows me to offer yoga in a way that is invitational, choice-based, and supportive of survivors in building safety, resilience, and connection with their bodies
Trauma Sensitive Yoga for Healing
Trauma Sensitive Yoga, is a gentle, body-based practice designed to support people who have experienced stress or trauma. Unlike traditional yoga, this approach emphasizes choice, safety, and awareness over “perfect poses.”
In each session, I use invitational language, offering options instead of instructions so you are always in control of how you move. You are invited, not required, to explore different shapes, breathing practices, or stillness. This helps create a sense of empowerment and safety, allowing you to notice what might work for you and your body.
Trauma Sensitive Yoga can also be integrated into therapy sessions as a supportive tool for trauma recovery. Combining talk therapy with gentle movement and mindfulness can help regulate the nervous system, increase grounding, and reconnect mind and body. For many people, this integrative approach deepens the healing process, offering new ways to process and release what words alone can’t always reach.
Benefits of Trauma Sensitive Yoga may include:
Increasing a felt sense of safety in the body
Gently befriending the body after trauma
Fostering self-trust and resilience
Support for those with Complex Trauma or Complex-PTSD
Supporting nervous system regulation
Building grounding and presence in daily life
Learn to nonjudgmentally observe thoughts, emotions and sensations
Soothe the parasympathetic nervous system (our flight our flight response)
Have you ever heard of Trauma Sensitive Yoga ?
A short 1 minute practice of Trauma Sensitive Yoga can help ground your body to the present moment. Allowing you to set the intention at the start of your therapy session, or at the end of a really hard session to help you feel grounded as you move on with your day after therapy.
